The ski backpack for any situation

Versatile, technical and comfortable ski touring backpack for demanding tours

Highlights

  • Optimum fit and load distribution
  • Scuff and water-resistant
  • Spacious and well designed

The HAUTE ROUTE has been around almost since the birth of ski touring. Our enduring classic is perfect for longer ski excursions.

Cordura®, PFC-free double-layered Polyamide 420D Oxford and PU coating on all fabrics make our HAUTE ROUTE 38 S extremely scuff and water resistant. This backpack fits perfectly thanks to its load control cords and ergonomically shaped O-Flex-2 back system with S-shaped stabilizer, which distributes weight evenly between the hips and the shoulders, even over lengthy periods. The hip fins connect inside the back system so that they wrap comfortably and seamlessly around the body. The HAUTE ROUTE 38 S has a specially designed shortened back system for smaller people.

With its larger capacity, the HAUTE ROUTE 38 S has space for all you may need. The spacious main compartment is accessible from the top and back, which means all backpack contents will be easily accessible, while a separate safety compartment provides rapid access to emergency equipment. Thanks to the rope attachment on the lid, you can pack and unpack your rope without having to open the backpack. In addition to the crampon fastening, ice axe and hiking pole fastening and fixed helmet net, there are also fasteners for a snowboard, for example. Skis can be fastened using either the classic or diagonal method.

No matter how long and challenging the tour, the HAUTE ROUTE 38 S will equip you well for any multi-day tour.

As an avalanche instructor, I can find no fault in the design and ease-of-use of this pack. With a capacity of 38L, even my fellow instructors are amazed with the carrying capacity of this pack. The outside panel is organized and labeled for your probe and shovel, and my snow saw fits right down the middle. The side pocket on the hip belt is large enough for me to store my skin wax, my robust Leatherman tool, and an extra inclonometer. There are multiple stash pockets that allow you to organize snacks, goggles, and a number of extra small items you might need to store separately. The fact that you can get into the main compartment from either the top or through the back panel is so useful. I also love where the helmet carry is placed - it stores into its own zipper pocket and is place near the bottom of the outside of the pack. This means that it does not impede your ability to get into the main compartment from the top, nor do you have your helmet on the top of the pack, banging against your head as you move through terrain. It also has multiple ski carry options (A-frame or a diagonal side carry). Even when fully loaded, it still fits my Ortovox rescue shelter/sled.
