1980

ORTOVOX founder Gerald Kampel revolutionized avalanche rescue with the invention of the F2, the world’s first double-frequency avalanche transceiver. 

This was followed by the first deep snow backpack and our decision to harness the highly functional properties of Swisswool and Merino wool for our first touring clothing, instead of the usual synthetic materials.
