When travelling by train, you can sit back and relax or get some work done. And: More and more bus and train services are being introduced in alpine regions.

01 STAY AWHILE
Are you going out every weekend? Could you perhaps work remotely? Then stay in the region longer and travel off-peak.

02 LOCAL SUPPORT
Are you travelling with a van? Then don’t load up on food at home, support the farm shops and establishments when you get to where you’re going.

03 KEEP PACKAGING TO A MINIMUM
Single-use is a dead-end street. Lunch boxes, beeswax wraps and reusable bottles are the way to go.

01 JUST HIRE IT
Are you actually going to use the product regularly? If not, hiring could be an option: For example, mountain sports equipment is often available from Alpine Clubs.

02 HEALTHY PROTECTION
Ensure you’re using PFC-free products. While PFC effectively repels dirt, water and grease, it is not biodegradable.

03 EVERLASTING LOVE
With a bit of skill, you can repair small rips, broken buckles, and other effects of wear and tear yourself – but many brands and retailers also offer a repair service.
